St. Rupert 150th Anniversary
28-30 August 2015
St. Rupert’s is an unassuming little Church. It sits nestled deep in the wooded countryside near Pigeon Creek, flanked on two sides with cemetery stones and on the third side by redbud trees. An ascending road draws the eye toward the sky as the Church spire appears to touch Heaven. As the seasons rotate, the lavender redbud blossoms are exchanged for various shades of summer greens, then on to the rust colors of fall including amazing red hues and vibrant yellows.
Tiny spires on the altar’s backdrop house the statuary of various saints. The Blessed Mother can be seen holding her son. The pale subtle colors of the Stations make the weight of Jesus’ suffering seem lighter while depicting the price He paid for our sins. Only the sun dancing on the stained glass windows can generate more colors than the seasons.
